As a child, “Barrel of Monkeys” was one of my favorite games. As an adult, on a visit to Costa Rica, I watched monkeys constantly trying to steal food from people. Together, these experiences inspired me to create a drawing celebrating the playful troublemaking of monkeys and apes. Even the chimpanzee in the drawing is taking part in the shenanigans. He has come alive to trip up his competitors, the monkeys from the barrel—all for the prize of a banana!
