I had an idea of creating a drawing of many of the memorable toys that my kids or I played with as children. I’ve included some of our favorites – a balsa wood airplane, Lego’s, Barbie, Play-Doh, My Little Pony, Care Bears and a variety of others. These were all toys which allowed for endless hours of fun and imagination. Although many of the toys wore out years ago, the wonderful memories remain. In this artwork, I’m drawing a still life of toys and while I take a break my models all come to life and are having a playtime of their own. Eventually, Mr Potato Head spills the bubbles while trying to fill his pipe. This causes a few of the characters that I’m drawing to float away within the bubbles while the real toys attempt to save them and bring them back to the paper.
